Systemic Cell Biology
The main objective of the group of Philippe Bastiaens is to elucidate how intracellular signaling networks process extracellular information and thereby determines cellular phenotype. The group therefore develops quantitative experimental and theoretical approaches to derive and conceptualize physical principles that underlie the dynamics of the spatial organization of signaling networks. A strong experimental emphasis is on functional microscopic imaging approaches at multiple resolutions to study the localization of protein reactions/ interactions in cells, maintaining its inherent spatial organization.
