Dr. phil. habil. Joachim Schummer
Joachim Schummer, dr. phil. habil., is a philosopher, sociologist and graduated chemist. After working many years as a university lecturer, among others in Germany, USA and Australia, he became a freelance author. Recent book publications are Between Fascination and Demonization: Chemistry in Society (Springer 2017), Why Science? (Kadmos, 2014), The Craft of God: The Artificial Creation of Life in the Laboratory (Suhrkamp, 2011), Nanotechnology: Games with Borders (Suhrkamp, 2009).
Since 1995, he is editor of an international journal for the philosophy of chemistry, Hyle, in which he is currently building the world's first teaching compendium on the ethics of chemistry together with an international team of authors.
